SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE, BROADER PERSPECTIVE

Over a decade focused on light, development and risk management.

Hensey Consulting was founded by Matt Hensey, a specialist adviser with more than a decade of experience in daylight, sunlight and rights of light. His work spans projects of virtually every scale, from constrained residential developments to major masterplans, tall buildings, stadiums and complex commercial schemes.

Before entering the built-environment consultancy sector, Matt spent around five years working alongside solicitors and barristers while progressing his law degree. His experience included attending proceedings in the Magistrates’ Court, the Crown Court and the Royal Courts of Justice. This legal background informs the foundation of his advisory approach: applying critical and analytical thinking beyond the technical data, evaluating risk on a project-by-project basis, and developing practical risk management strategies that take account of planning considerations, private property rights and commercial realities.

Matt’s experience spans the UK and beyond, having advised on major projects in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and the South West, Leeds, Sheffield, Newcastle, Bournemouth, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Gibraltar, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey.

His broader specialist experience includes solar glint and glare affecting road, rail and aviation users, neighbouring occupiers and amenity settings such as swimming pools; solar convergence where reflections can intensify solar radiation; and assessment and optimisation of photovoltaic (PV) installations.
